Background |

I'm 55 years old, have been playing sports
for about 55 years - football, hockey, basketball, mountain biking, skiing etc. I started
lifting weights in 1966 so I've seen, and unfortunately tried, just
about every "fad" there has been. I started training athletes in 1978
and the general adult population in 1984. My strength and conditioning
programs use bodyweight, bars, dumbbells, pulleys etc. I follow the same
principles with the adults as I do with the athletes. I just tone it
down a little bit (or a lot). |

I have a private gym in downtown London
where, in particular, I specialize in taking care of Baby Boomers. The
gym has been nicknamed the "Used Car Lot". Our goal is to get to the
front of the lot and avoid the wrecking ball. Many of us still play good
hockey, ski, tennis, mountain bike etc. BUT let me make it clear
to you - If you want to avoid the wrecking ball you will have to grow
up. If you still think you can play like you did when you were 25, you
can fly a fighter jet and college girls think you're hot, do us all a
favour. Here's a reality check: If you are 55 and really can play like
you did when you were 25, you were really crappy when you were 25 and
you never could fly a fighter jet. |
